House of 1833 Old Mystic, CT

The House of 1833 is much more than a typical bed and breakfast. Each room (or suite) has modern touches such a flat-screen television and DVD player, while the mansion features two parlors guaranteed to wow you. The food at the House of 1833 is worthy of the finest restaurant, and amazing to find at a New England B&B. You’ll probably find it hard to believe that the three acres of gardens and fountains is within a mile or so of Mystic Aquarium and Interstate 95. Mystic Seaport is nearby, too.

The House of 1833 is in the quiet village of Old Mystic, at 72 North Stonington Road, Mystic, CT 06355. You can see more at HouseOf1833.Com, their website. You can call their local number, 860-536-6325, and they have a toll-free number: 800-FOR-1833. Please call or text me at 860-543-2334 to help at your wedding.

Mystic Aquarium Mystic, CT

Juno, probably Mystic Aquarium’s most famous resident, loves brides! The white whale seems to think that every bride comes just to see him.

In addition to Juno’s huge tank, which he shares with other Belugas, there are many other outdoor and indoor settings at Mystic Aquarium for either an elopement or a formal wedding. (The penguins are already wearing their tuxedos.)

Inside the Aquarium are jellyfish, seals, sea rays, sharks, and all kinds of fish. There are amphibians, too. You could spend at least one day marveling at the diversity of sea life.

The Mystic Aquarium is located at 55 Coogan Blvd, Mystic, CT 06355, and the official Mystic Aquarium website is WWW.MysticAquarium.org.

Mystic Seaport Museum Mystic, CT

The Mystic Seaport Museum is a very active and authentic museum. It is not a working seaport.

The lighthouse (above) provides a nice backdrop for weddings and photos. It is very small inside, with photographs and other exhibits. Getting married inside the lighthouse is possible but probably not practical.

“The steamboat Sabino is the oldest wooden, coal-fired steamboat in regular operation in the U.S.”
(quoted from the Mystic Seaport's web page about the Sabino.)

Yes! You can have your wedding aboard the Sabino!

The Mystic Seaport Museum is located at 75 Greenmanville Avenue, Mystic, CT 06355, and the official Mystic Aquarium website is WWW.MysticSeaport.Org.
