Chapman Falls tumbles more than 60 feet.

Sometimes called “Devil’s Hopyard Falls”, it is one of the most-photographed parts of Devil’s Hopyard.

To get to Chapman Falls, park in the parking lot near 191 Foxtown Road, East Haddam, CT and follow the trail.

The covered bridge in Devil’s Hopyard spans the Eight Mile River, downstream of Chapman Falls.

There is a pavilion nearby, available to rent for your wedding reception or picnic.

To get to the Devil’s Hopyard covered bridge and pavilion, park in the parking lot near 366 Hopyard Road, East Haddam, CT and follow the road.

In addition to the rental pavilion, there are picnic tables near the Eight Mile River that are free to use. Fresh water is available about 150 feet from the pavilion. Composting toilets are about 100 feet away from the pavilion.


General Devil’s Hopyard wedding information:

There is no admission charge nor parking fee at Devil’s Hopyard State Park.

It is easy to park, and it is not usually crowded.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is responsible for all State Parks.

There is also a campground as part of the Park, where you can reserve camping spots in season.

Pets on leashes are allowed in the picnic areas and on hiking trails. Well-behaved animals are welcome at your wedding, too!

According to DEEP regulations,
Scattering confetti, rice, or other materials is prohibited.
Alcoholic beverages may be brought to the pavilion (picnic shelter).
Beverages in containers larger than one liter are prohibited. Kegs, et cetera, are not allowed.
Helium balloons are strongly discouraged, but if used, they must not be released, and must be disposed of properly.
